Important Explanations on Industrial Engineering Project - Graduation Design Project Courses- 1

Dear 4th Year Students,

1. In order to carry out the Industrial Engineering Project- Graduation Project, you should read INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT GRADUATION PROJECT PREPARATION GUIDE and you should follow this guide in all your work and preparation (you can access thesis and internship guides and other documents at https://mmf.gelisim.edu.tr/bolum/endustri-muhendisligi-9/icerik/belgeler-ve-formlar). Please read the Study Guide very carefully and choose a thesis subject, also use the time you have in a productive way and never delay your works. You can find detailed information about the deadline for choosing the thesis subject and all other time lines between the pages 6 to 15 in the Guide. (There is a work schedule in Part 1, Annex-4).
2. You can either select your thesis subject or you can choose among the subjects Department lecturers will place on their doors. The deadline to choose your subject and get it approved by the Department Head along with Graduation Project Registration Form (click for a blank form) is the Week 3.    However, project courses have sections and as you will select the Lecturer during course registrations, I SUGGEST you to determine your subject IMMEDIATELY and get the approval of the Lecturer as Advisor, which will help you study with a lecturer of your choice.  As a principle, each Lecturer will advise a maximum of 8 students. Therefore, some lecturers might tell you that their quotas for advising are full.
3. Your selection of subject and receiving the approval of Advisor is the principle, however, in order to prevent any excessive demand, each student should write down the names of 3 lecturers they wish to have as advisor in the order of precedence and send as an e-mail to Research Assistant Nurdan Yıldız (nyildiz@gelisim.edu.tr) latest by September 10, 2018. The lecturers with whom you can prepare your thesis are the lecturers in https://mmf.gelisim.edu.tr/bolum/endustri-muhendisligi-9/akademik-kadro, except for the research assistants.    A minimum of 8 students must also prepare a thesis with the new department member Prof. Dr. Tarık Çakar.
4. Industrial Engineering Project and Graduation Project are compulsory attendance courses with credits. You are supposed to visit your thesis advisor weekly during the course hours stated in the program or during any other time set by the Advisor and you should participate in attendance, provide information about your studies and seek advise.  This is a practical course and 20 % non-attendance will mean fail.
5. In addition to that, you should deliver your initial report (Literature Review and Information Gathering Report) latest by mid-term date and hour for mid-term examination assessment. In order to achieve Industrial Engineering Project and Graduation Project, you need to start studying now in an organized manner. I strongly advise you to use your time in an organized and timely manner and read the guide carefully.
6.  I will organize a meeting during the Second Week of Courses in order to explain more about the Guide and answer your questions (time and hour will be announced, most probably during Production Planning and Control course). All students who take Industrial Engineering Project (thesis) course must attend this meeting, no individual queries will be answered afterwards. This meeting will not be repeated.  We will meet once again in Fourth Week for Rules on Preparing and your further questions.
7. Complete the forms by taking them out of ANNEX guide. Click for two Registration Form samples completed before.
8. You can use the thesis titles at YOK website, IBB, TIBITAK, and Congress papers in Production Studies etc. for literature review. I will also send a detailed e-mail about this.

I wish you success.
