Requirement for Industrial Engineer
Industrial Engineers, who increase the quality and efficiency and reduce the costs in the institutions where they work with their engineering competencies, have one of the most popular occupations. The need for Industrial Engineers, who have the opportunity to work in almost every field, is increasing day by day. The institutions and organizations have acknowledged the importance of Industrial Engineers and started to hire them in order to improve their quality and efficiency, to improve their business processes and to have the best management abilities.
However, the number of Industrial Engineers is low. In Turkey, there are 25.000 Industrial Engineers in total and tens of thousands of positions are filled with other engineers and employees. Therefore, there is a need for their expertise with less competitors regarding employment and promotion. Industrial Engineering is considered among the future jobs and it is widely preferred by students due to its opportunities, range of employment areas and low intensity in competition. In Turkey, there are approximately 120 faculties with Industrial Engineering training, and an estimated number of 4.000 students graduate each year. It is foreseen that the quotas and number of departments will increase because of the ongoing need.
