About Autonomous Systems Basic Training and Application Certificate Program

Dear Students,

The Istanbul Gelişim University Continuing Education Application and Research Center (IGÜSEM) will organize a Autonomous Systems Basic Training and Application Certificate Program. Through this training, participants will gain the skills to understand the basic building blocks of autonomous systems, develop basic sensor and control applications, and evaluate their areas of application in different sectors.

Course Information:
  • Instructor: Lecturer Ali ÇETİNKAYA
  • Date: December 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 2025
  • Time: 17:00 – 22:00
  • Format: In-person (Participants must bring their own computers)
  • Fee: IGÜ graduates and members: 2,000 TL | External participants: 3,500 TL
Target Audience for the Course
  • Students studying engineering and technology
  • Participants interested in robotics, embedded systems, automation, and artificial intelligence
  • Professionals working in software development, image processing, or sensor technologies
  • R&D employees who want to work on autonomous vehicle Technologies

The Aim of the Course
The aim of this course is to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the basic components, working principles, and application areas of autonomous systems. All fundamental elements that constitute autonomous structures, from sensor technologies to perception and decision-making mechanisms, and from control algorithms to system architecture, are explained with theoretical information and practical examples, aiming to provide participants with a strong technical foundation.

Topics of the Course
  1. Basic components and working principles of autonomous systems
  2. Sensor technologies and detection methods
  3. Decision-making mechanisms and basic algorithms
  4. Control systems and control loops
  5. Introduction to path planning and obstacle avoidance algorithms
  6. Communication protocols used in autonomous systems (I2C, SPI, CAN, etc.)
  7. Autonomous system architecture
  8. Basic applications using the Python language
  9. Examples of autonomous system applications in industry, defense, transportation, and robotics

Learning Outcomes
Participants who successfully complete this training will attain a level of knowledge that enables them to explain the fundamental building blocks and operating principles of autonomous systems. By understanding the relationship between sensors, perception, decision-making, and control loops, they will be able to interpret basic sensor data and develop simple perception and control applications. Additionally, they will understand the basic principles of path planning and obstacle avoidance algorithms and become familiar with common communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and CAN. Furthermore, they will gain the competence to evaluate the applications of autonomous systems in various fields such as industry, defense, transportation, and robotics.
