The project titled “The Effect of Single and Hybrid Nanomaterial Use on the Mechanical and Durability Performance of Geopolymer Composites and Fractal Crack Characterization by Three Dimensional Tomography”, which was carried out by Asst. Prof. Hamit ÖZTÜRK, a faculty member of the Department of Civil Engineering, and Assoc. Prof. Anıl NİŞ as a researcher, has been accepted within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1002. Prof. Savaş ERDEM and Asst. Prof. Ezgi GÜRBÜZ from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa also took part in the project team and contributed to the study.




 


The project titled “Investigation of Strength and Durability Performances of Geopolymer Composites with Different Ratios of Fiber and Nanomaterial Additives”, led by Assoc. Prof. Anıl Niş, one of the academicians of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), and Asst. Prof. Hamit Öztürk as a researcher, was entitled to be supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 3501 Career Development Program.





 


Istanbul Gelisim University participated in the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Deep Tech Talent Days held on November 12-13, 2024, providing a strong promotion in the international arena and attracting attention with its project accepted as the only university from Turkey. Prof. Necmettin Maraşlı, Vice Rector for Research and Development, Asst. Prof. Serkan Gönen, Head of Software Engineering Department, and Alisa Usubova, International Exchange and Cooperation Coordinator, represented IGU at this event held in Warsaw, Poland. The project, which was carried out by Istanbul Gelisim University and realized in partnership with Proficiency Institute from Germany, was one of the 15 projects supported by EIT Deep Tech among 97 applications and received a budget of 146,497.50 Euros.


 


The opening of the IGU Cyber Academy Project, which will last for 4 months on topics such as artificial intelligence algorithms, programming languages and cyber security protocols organized by Istanbul Gelisim University in cooperation with Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), was held with the participation of Istanbul Gelisim University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdülkadir Gayretli, IGU Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin, Vice Rectors Prof. Necmettin Maraşlı, Prof. Nuri Kuruoğlu and Prof. Arda Öztürkcan, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli, Program Coordinator Asst. Prof. Serkan Gönen and Istanbul Development Agency Deputy Head of Program Management and Monitoring Unit Gökhan Çoban.



 


Istanbul Gelisim University Technology Transfer Office (IGU TTO) has announced an innovative project that will make life easier for visually impaired individuals. This system, called “Smart Glasses with Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security Features for Visually Impaired Individuals”, has advanced technological features that enable visually impaired individuals to move independently. The project was developed by Furkan Onur, Asst. Prof. Kenan Şentürk, Asst. Prof. Serkan Gönen and Res. Asst. Tunay Acıman within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program.




 


With the supervision of Prof. Osman Ergüven Vatandaş, Responsible Researcher Student Hüseyin Furkan Çelik's project titled “Electric Fan Motor Driven Unmanned Aerial Vehicle with Vertical Take-Off and Landing Features” won support within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program. In addition, it achieved a great success by ranking 1st in the Hangar Campus Innovation Program organized by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) on September 13-14, 2023, in which 38 universities participated with 93 teams.





 


The project prepared by Res. Asst. Hazal Türkmen Yazgaç from IGU Department of Architecture under the supervision of Prof. Demet Ulusoy Binan was found suitable for support within the scope of TÜBİTAK's “1002-A Rapid Support Module”. The project, titled “A Research on the Outstanding Universal Value and World Heritage Potential of the Menzil Complexes of Mimar Sinan's Period”, focuses on the menzil complexes built by Mimar Sinan, one of the revolutionary names in the architectural history of the Ottoman Empire, on the Ottoman road network.



 


The project titled “Basic PLC Training” conducted by Asst. Prof. Ercan Aykut, one of the academicians of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), has received support within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2237-A. The project was carried out between 05.02.2024 - 11.02.2024 at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MMF), Mechanical / Industrial Automation Laboratory.





 


Under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Kenan ŞENTÜRK, research students Muhammed Hüseyin YILDIRIM, Emircan DEMİRALP and Yunus Emre IŞIK's project titled “Smart Shower System Project for Water Saving and Awareness Raising” was entitled to be supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support.





 


The project titled “Investigation of the Effect of Composite Nanofiber Cardiac Patches on Cardiogenic Differentiation and Transcriptomic Changes in Adipose Tissue Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells”, in which Asst. Prof. Serap YEŞİLKIR BAYDAR is a researcher, has been entitled to be supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK.
