 Student's Projects

Our aeronautical engineering students have been participating in TEKNOFEST regularly, which is held for the fourth time this year under the name of Turkey's aviation and aerospace days. IGU students, who develop various projects in different fields by forming teams, improve themselves each year and present the name of our school and department at the festival. One of these teams, "JeTuran", consists of all aeronautical engineering students and competed in the "jet engine design" category at Teknofest 2021 and developed a jet engine that produces 150 lbs of thrust. Another team was established in 2018 under the name of "Gelisim Technology Team" and has been participating in the Teknofest competition since 2019. The team has participated in the Rocket and UAV categories so far. In 2019, Gelisim Technology Team achieved to compete in finals in the low altitude rocket category. Kuzgun, Alaca and Pegasus teams competed in the rocket category at three different altitudes in 2020 and became the preliminary design qualifiers. In 2021, under the competition of medium altitude rocket category, two teams named Kuzgun and Pegasus participated in the competition and became a final qualifiers. The team has qualified as a finalist four times in total. This year, the team will participate in the competition under the medium altitude rocket category. The team includes members from different fields of engineering. There are aeronautical, mechatronics, computer and electrical and electronic engineering students working in collaborate for the team. In addition, ASTERIA AIRTURK Team competed in the fixed wing UAV category in 2021 and became a conceptual design final qualifier. The UAV, which the team produced from scratch, successfully carried out flight tests. In 2022, 6 aeronautical engineers and 2 computer engineers will compete in the "Free-duty UAV" category. It will carry first aid supplies to disaster areas.
