The Political Ecology of Food - 9
13 October 2021, 15:00
“Food in Urban Spaces: Problems/Search for Solutions”

As it is known, the public structures that were dissolved since the mid-2000s led to a crisis in accessing healthy food in the city. We have witnessed the emergence of initiatives aiming to reach healthy food fairly and for everyone, with the replacement of the relatively secure structures of the public by the chain markets that operate according to the logic of the market. In this webinar, we will talk about how and what kind of work the food initiatives that maintain the food supply in the city in alternative ways are doing.

Speakers:
Assoc. Dr. Zeynep Kadirbeyoğlu - Department of Political Science and International Relations, Boğaziçi University
Dr. İrem Soysal Al - Department of Sociology, Maltepe University
