 Internship

FOR STUDENTS WHO WILL COMPLETE THEIR INTERNSHIP IN TÜRKİYE:
Internship procedures have been transferred to the Student Information System (OBIS). Our students who will complete their internship in Türkiye are required to submit their applications through OBIS. Click here for the Summer Internship Application Guide.
FOR STUDENTS WHO WILL COMPLETE THEIR INTERNSHIP ABROAD:

ALL FIELDS IN “COMPULSORY SUMMER INTERNSHIP FORM” MUST BE FILLED IN ON THE COMPUTER AND PREPARED IN TRIPLICATE IN THREE COPIES.

NOTE:
a) When determining the internship date interval, official holidays should not be included in the internship period. Otherwise, even if the signatures are completed, the internship form will not be accepted and re-processing will be requested.
b) Internship forms must be approved by authorized persons and the name, surname and title must be specified in the signatures.
c) Internship applications of our students who will complete their internship abroad are received via e-mail. In order for internships abroad to be approved, students are required to submit a document proving that they have private health insurance during the internship period. Students who cannot obtain this document from the country where the internship will be carried out may submit their health insurance and travel insurance obtained in Türkiye by attaching them to the internship application form and sending it via e-mail to mmf@gelisim.edu.tr and omhalat@gelisim.edu.tr Internship applications must be submitted at least 15 days prior to the internship start date. This period cannot be shortened in order to complete the required documentation for internships abroad.
IMPORTANT ISSUES RELATED TO CIVIL ENGINEERING SUMMER INTERNSHIP

1) Internship days cannot be divided. Students of our department are required to do two internships for a total of 60 days. One of the internships is required to be a construction site and in this context, students are expected to experience rough construction (column, beam, slab, foundation, etc.) productions in the field. The second internship can be determined as a construction site or office according to the student's request.

If the student wants to do his/her second internship as a construction site internship, he/she must do it in a different field (hydraulics, transportation, geotechnics) apart from the construction field. In this context, construction sites with applications such as dam, railway, highway, subway, tunnel, deep excavation can be preferred by the student.

If the student wants to do the second internship as an office internship, the student is required to experience one of the structural analysis programs during the internship period.

2) The internship notebook must have a page for each day and each page must be dated. While preparing the internship notebook, a more professional language should be used instead of a casual language and it should be prepared in accordance with the report preparation techniques.

3) In construction site internships, the manufacturing process and operations of structural systems should be clearly explained and supported with photographs. In this context, columns, beams, slabs, curtains and foundations should be photographed and explained in detail. Fine manufacturing (wall, door, cladding, etc.) or the use of AUTOCAD program can be added to the internship book, but these parts should not exceed 5 days in the internship book.

4) In office internships, students are expected to experience the project design stages of a building, highway, bridge, viaduct, factory productions. In these projects, it is necessary to learn to use one of the engineering programs (structural analysis programs such as Sap2000, Sta4Cad, IdeCad, ETABs for structural projects; Primavera, MS Project etc. in the field of construction management; GEO5, Plaxis etc. in the field of geotechnics). In this context, you are required to draw the structural systems in the program, enter the reinforcement information of the structural system elements into the program, select and assign the necessary earthquake loads, fixed and moving loads to the program and finally analyze the structure. AUTOCAD program, progress and quantity sections should not exceed 5 days in the internship book.

5) The internship notebook prepared after the end date of the internship must be scanned and uploaded to the system within 30 days following the completion of the internship, after being duly signed and stamped by the company.
