WHAT IS A COMPULSORY INTERNSHIP?
A compulsory internship is a period of work outside of school, documented and approved by the department, in order for the student to graduate. The student is responsible for finding an internship.
Our university may provide a certain number of quotas from various institutions. Information about this is announced on the bulletin boards.
Our students must successfully complete the compulsory 30-day Summer Internship I and 30-day Summer Internship II internships in order to graduate. Summer Internship I is held in the summer following the second year, and Summer Internship II is held in the period following the third year.
You can review the Department Internship Commission from the "Department Commissions" page.
The Compulsory Summer Internship Form will be completed online by the student via the OBIS system.
Click for the Compulsory Summer Internship Book.
Each student who does an internship must fill out the application form and the internship book at the end of the internship, have it approved and bring it to the workplace.
The steps to be followed in internships are presented below:
Finding a Suitable Internship Place (There is a requirement for at least 1 (one) Electrical and Electronics Engineer to be present at the place where the internship will be held.),
Filling out the “Compulsory Internship Form” obtained from our university’s web address (https://oidb.gelisim.edu.tr/Sayfa/staj) with the help of a computer and signing it in 3 (three) copies by the company where the internship will be held (by an authorized manager with the company stamp),
The Compulsory Internship Form must be signed by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the latest 15 (fifteen) business days before the internship start date;
Sequentially, it must first be signed by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, then by the Dean’s Office and finally by the Student Affairs Office. (wet signature is mandatory), (If the company/institution where the internship will be done requests that it be signed by the university first, it can be signed by the Department Head and Dean first and then by the company/institution. In any case, it should be signed by the Student Affairs last.)
1 (one) copy of the form signed by the Student Affairs is delivered to the Department Head by hand. 1 (one) copy of the form is also delivered to the institution where the internship will be done.
The student's insurance is provided by our university during the internship.
The internship book file will be taken from the Student Affairs Web Page and will be filled in legibly by hand or on the computer and approved.
The internship book must be delivered to the Department Head by hand within 1 (one) month at most from the end date. (If the internship ends more than one month before the beginning of the Academic Year, it can also be delivered within the first week of the start of classes.)
Students who do not have their forms approved on time will not be accepted for internship.
The points to be considered while filling the Internship Notebook are presented below:
The language used while filling the notebook should be official written language (passive). (Project X was discussed, method Y was found suitable as a solution, etc.)
Supporting elements related to the subject (screenshots, photographs, drawings and equations) should be added.
The written text should not be too short or unnecessarily long expressions taken by copy/paste.
It should not be written like a diary/novel. (We drank tea, had coffee, had a meeting, etc.)
Technical details should be specified.
Internship forms will be filled daily. It is mandatory to have a date on each page. For daily tasks exceeding 1 page, additional pages should be added under titles such as "Day 5 (Continued)", "Day 7 (Continued)" and continued.
NOTE: a) Mandatory Internship Forms must have the wet signature of the Department Head and Dean. Photocopies cannot be sent.
b) When determining the internship date range, all official holidays, including religious holidays, should not be included in the internship period. (For example, July 15) Otherwise, even if the signatures are completed, the internship form will not be accepted and a new process will be requested. c) Internship forms must be approved by authorized persons and the signatures must include a stamp, if any, and the title, name and surname.
