International Achievement from IGU: AI-Powered Fire Detection Device Presented at UBMK 2025 and Accepted for Publication in IEEE Xplore

The fire detection device developed by Istanbul Gelisim University Electrical and Electronics Engineering students under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Peri Güneş was presented at UBMK 2025 (International Conference on Computer Science and Engineering), hosted by Istanbul Technical University on September 17–21, 2025, and has been accepted for publication in IEEE Xplore.

Presentation at UBMK, Publication in IEEE Xplore
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering team of Istanbul Gelisim University successfully presented their study titled “Fire Early Detection System Based on Artificial Intelligence–Driven Climate Analysis” during the final sessions of UBMK, held at ITU on September 17–21, 2025. The paper, highly appreciated by the scientific committee, was accepted for publication in IEEE Xplore under UBMK Paper No: 2728. Through this achievement, the team managed to bring international visibility to their undergraduate capstone project, gaining a significant advantage in terms of scientific impact and dissemination.

Consecutive Achievements by IGU’s Young Engineers
In addition to their international publication success, Mehmet Emin Türksoy, Burak Boz, and Emirhan Erden have also distinguished themselves in both university-level and national competitions. As members of the TECH-SAT team, they presented their study “Fire Early Detection System Based on Artificial Intelligence–Driven Climate Analysis” at UBMK 2025 and earned the right to publish in IEEE Xplore. Beyond academia, they achieved second place among nearly 60 projects at the 4th Electronic Circuits Exhibition hosted by Istanbul Gelisim University. Furthermore, in the TUSAŞ Hangar Entrepreneurship Competition, they ranked among the top 9 out of 63 business ideas, winning a one-year free incubation office at Teknopark Istanbul. These results demonstrate the team’s steady progress not only in scientific production but also in product development and entrepreneurship.

Following their presentation at UBMK 2025, the study passed peer review and was officially approved for publication in IEEE Xplore. Thus, the undergraduate capstone project carried out by Mehmet Emin Türksoy, Burak Boz, and Emirhan Erden under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Peri Güneş has transformed into an international article, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. With Istanbul Gelisim University’s research-oriented approach and institutional support, this achievement is expected to enhance the university’s scientific visibility and pave the way for new collaborations.
