On 14.12.2016, a technical visit was made to Yılmaz Redüktör Plant (Yılmaz Hub Reduction Gear Corporation) as Istanbul Gelisim University, Department of Industrial Engineering with the participation of Department Head Prof. Dr. Kenan Özden and students from classes 1, 2, 3 and 4. The departure was at 9.45 from Istanbul Gelisim University and we were at the factory around 10.10. A detailed presentation was made by the Aegean region sales manager regarding the gear units, gears, electric motors and Yılmaz Redüktör. Students were provided a pencil, bookmark and notepad to take notes at the meeting. Between 11:00 and 13:00 the participants were divided into two groups and a factory visit was made with the guidance of Industrial Engineers for each group. During this trip, warehouse, quality control, various production lines and turning, broaching, drawing, grinding, planing etc. and the latest technology in the manufacturing process of machine tools were observed and introduced. In addition, casting operations, molds and assembly lines and delivery preparation units were introduced. Then we had a lunch with Şinasi Yilmaz, one of the partners and the General Manager of Elek Motor San ve Tic. A.Ş.
Following the lunch, Department Head of Industrial Engineering, Prof. Dr. Kenan Özden visited him in his office and thanked him. After the lunch, students visited the Production Planning Department to observe how the orders, stocks and production processes were planned through computer software and forms, and samples were taken from the forms. With this event, it was aimed that our students have the knowledge about the operation and machines in the factory and to be determinant in the future job choices. We believe that our students will reflect on their observations and acquired knowledge and experience in the following terms.
