 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Gönen Gave a Presentation at the EIT Deep Tech Talent “Pledgers' Share & Connect” Event


Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Department of Software Engineering Chair and CyberShield Innovators Project Education Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Gönen was a speaker at the EIT Deep Tech Talent – “Pledgers’ Share & Connect: Expanding Towards a Broader STEM Community" event hosted by the University of Barcelona on December 2–3, 2025.


The EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative, supported by the European Union, is among the most comprehensive programs that promote education, collaboration, and knowledge exchange in deep technology fields. This year’s event in Barcelona brought together institutions and experts from the Pledger community to foster experience sharing and networking.

CyberShield Innovators Project Presented at the Event

The CyberShield Innovators project, coordinated by Istanbul Gelisim University in collaboration with the Proficiency Institute in Germany, was among the projects showcased during the sessions.
Reaching 1,205 participants, the project attracted attention with its modules focusing on:

  • digital security,

  • threat awareness,

  • social engineering,

  • cyberbullying,

  • deep-tech–based training content.

“Cyber Awareness: Social Engineering & Cyberbullying” Workshop

During the parallel sessions held on the first day of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Gönen conducted a workshop titled “Cyber Awareness: Social Engineering & Cyberbullying.”

In the workshop, participants were informed about:

  • social engineering attack techniques,

  • phishing and fake-page creation methods,

  • online security risks,

  • individual and institutional protection strategies.

“An Opportunity to Share Our Work on an International Platform”

Following the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gönen shared his thoughts:

“The EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative offers an important environment for knowledge exchange in deep technology. I am pleased to have the opportunity to share our CyberShield Innovators project with international participants.”
