Final-year students from the Software Engineering Department at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) achieved significant success at TEKNOFEST 2025. AgroSense, an AI-powered farmer assistant developed by the students, advanced to the finals in the Agricultural Technologies category and won the Prestige Award given under the “Star Topics” framework.
The team, consisting of Kaan Irmak, Ecem Tan, Süleyman Emre Aytaç, and Ahmet Karpuz, developed a technology-focused solution for agriculture under the guidance of their advisor Yahya Kemal Kıran. The AgroSense system, which combines IoT (Internet of Things) infrastructure with artificial intelligence technologies, aims to provide data-driven decision support to farmers by processing soil data, environmental measurements, and field analyses.
The project, which emerged as a result of an intensive and planned work process carried out throughout the academic year, received high scores in the jury evaluations in terms of technical competence, original approach, and applicability. The team, which succeeded in becoming a finalist in the Agricultural Technologies category, also crowned their success with the special Prestige Award given under the “Star Topics” section.
This achievement by young engineers at the graduation stage strengthens the university's technology and innovation-focused vision while also demonstrating the potential of local and innovative solutions developed in the field of agricultural technologies.
