On Thursday, July 4, 2024, Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Technology Transfer Office (TTO) has made a technical visit to ERMAKSAN, a leading company in the production of laser chips based in Bursa. Ahmet Özkayan, Member of the Board of Directors and General Manager of ERMAKSAN, attended the meeting, where a presentation was made about the technical activities carried out within IGU TTO.

Ahmet Özkayan, Member of the Board of Directors and General Manager of ERMAKSAN, attended the meeting, where a presentation was made about the technical activities carried out within IGU TTO.
Jet Drone and VTOL UAV projects attracted attention
During the meeting where the activities and projects of IGU TTO were conveyed, it was evaluated that industry and university cooperation studies can be carried out between the two institutions. Following the presentation of ERMEKSAN's company capabilities and defense industry activities, workshop visits were made regarding OptoElectronic capabilities. During the meeting, Ahmet Özkayan, Member of the Board of Directors and General Manager of ERMAKSAN, stated that especially Jet Drones and 3D mapping VTOL UAVs, which are among the projects carried out at TTO, can be produced at ERMAKSAN.
Within the scope of inter-institutional cooperation, it was deemed appropriate to sign an NDA and a technical agreement (MoU). ERMAKSAN Board Member and General Manager Ahmet Özkayan was invited to visit Istanbul Gelisim University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdülkadir Gayretli and Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin.
During the meeting, it was requested that information on IGU patents that have the possibility of commercialization and the projects worked on at IGU TTO be sent to ERMAKSAN. Within the scope of ERMAKSAN's support and internship acceptance to technical high schools, an educational support and cooperation between Gökkuşağı Schools in Bursa and ERMAKSAN was discussed.
