The “Engineers and Architects of the Future” Project Festival Took Place!

The “Engineers and Architects of the Future Project Festival,” organized under the supervision of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, took place on April 15 with strong participation from high school students. The event, which featured projects focused on science, technology, and innovation, served as an important platform for encouraging students to embrace a culture of research and development.

At the festival, which received 32 project submissions from a total of 18 high schools, students presented their projects to the jury in four main categories: Computer Science and Software, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, and Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Architecture. As part of the competition, the first-place winner in each category was awarded a cash prize of 20,000 TL, and certificates of achievement were presented to the top three projects in each category.

The winning projects in the festival were ranked as follows:

Computer Science and Software
  • Algorithm-Based Infusion Monitoring System

Electrical-Electronic and Mechatronics
  • Sensor-Supported Automatic Buoyancy System for Liquid-Contact Traffic Accidents

Industrial Engineering
  • Investigation of Paper Production and Efficiency from Pinus Pinea Pine Cones

Civil Engineering and Architecture
  • Environmental Sustainability and Structural Resilience; Eco-Brick from Demolition to a Resilient Future

The primary objective of the festival, organized under the leadership of IGU FEA, is to strengthen the culture of research and development among high school students, encourage original design and prototype development efforts, support scientific production, and increase students’ interest in the fields of engineering and architecture.

During the event, students not only had the opportunity to present their projects but also gained firsthand experience of the university environment. Workshops organized as part of the festival—including “3D Printer Applications,” “Ergo-Parkur,” “Cage Bridge Workshop,” and “Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking: Network Security Applications”—drew significant interest from students.

Notable for its evaluation processes conducted under the guidance of academics, the event stood out as a valuable meeting point that strengthened university-high school collaboration while supporting students' scientific thinking, problem-solving, and innovative production skills.
