Applications for the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Student Research Projects Support Program Have Begun
The 2209-A University Student Research Projects Support Program, run by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), is now open for applications for the fall semester of 2025. The program aims to develop the research skills of university students, including those in engineering and architecture faculties, and to encourage project-based learning.
Applications began on Monday, October 13, 2025, and will close at 17:30 on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Applications can only be made online through the TÜBİTAK Management Information System (TYBS). The system automatically closes at 5:30 PM on the last day of application; therefore, students must complete their applications and advisor approvals on time.
The maximum support period under the program is 12 months, and the maximum support amount provided for each project is 9,000 TL. Expenses can only be made through the project leader's bank account and in return for an receipt. The scope of support includes machinery and equipment, consumables, service purchases, and travel expenses, while accommodation, publications, patents, and daily expenses are excluded.
Undergraduate and graduate students may apply to the program individually or in groups. However, open education and preparatory class students are not eligible to apply. An academic advisor is required for each project, and advisors may serve on a maximum of five projects during the same period. Applications are completed when the advisor approves the project proposal created by the student through the TYBS system.
Project proposals are evaluated in a two-stage process. In the first stage, a preliminary review is conducted to check the application requirements and documents. In the second stage, the scientific evaluation committee scores the project under the headings of research proposal quality (35%), methodology (25%), project management (20%), and widespread impact (20%).
The program aims to enable engineering and architecture students to implement their original research ideas, gain academic research experience, and produce innovative solutions. The program also contributes to students' preparation for transitioning to TÜBİTAK's other research and innovation support programs.
