Dr. İlknur Türkoğlu, a lecturer in Architecture and a specialist in Cultural Heritage Management, provided information on Hagia Sophia in a program produced by the British B1M YouTube channel, known for its documentaries on architecture and engineering and which has millions of followers.
In the first part of the documentary, Türkoğlu explained the invaluable historical and architectural value of the 1500-year-old Hagia Sophia, considered a common heritage of humanity, and emphasized the importance of preserving Hagia Sophia, which has been repeatedly damaged by severe earthquakes throughout its history. In later parts of the documentary, Türkoğlu, along with two other experts, also provided information about the ongoing restoration work at Hagia Sophia. Hagia Sophia, which has managed to remain standing since its construction in 537, serves as a public library, both in terms of architectural techniques and its significance for world and Istanbul history.
