I have been admitted to the Department. What should I do to complete my registration?

Congratulations, and we wish you continued success in your academic journey. Information regarding the registration process is announced on the Istanbul Gelisim University homepage and on the Student Affairs Office website.

The language of instruction in my program is Turkish. Can I choose to attend the English Preparatory Program?

Yes. Students enrolled in Turkish-medium programs may attend the optional English Preparatory Program. Please note that the preparatory program is subject to tuition fees and extends the duration of study by one academic year.

Where can I obtain my student ID card?

Newly enrolled engineering students may collect their student ID cards from the Faculty Secretariat (Tower Building, 19th Floor).

What should I do to register for courses?

Course registration can be completed through the Student Information System (OBS) during the registration period specified in the Academic Calendar.

Which campus is my department located on?

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Undergraduate Program carries out its educational activities in the Gelisim Tower (J Block). Faculty members' offices are located on the 18th floor, while the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture is located on the 19th floor.

Is the program accredited?

Yes. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Undergraduate Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, a U.S.-based accreditation organization.

Can I receive exemption from courses I completed at another university?

Students admitted through the national placement system may apply for course exemptions during their first semester within the dates specified in the Academic Calendar. Exemption requests for courses successfully completed at another higher education institution are evaluated by the relevant commission in accordance with the IGU Directive on Exemption, Course Transfer, and Horizontal Transfer Procedures.

Is there a compulsory internship requirement?

Yes. To be eligible for graduation, students must successfully complete two compulsory internships, Internship I and Internship II, each consisting of 30 working days.

Internship I is generally completed after the second year, while Internship II is completed after the third year. Students may undertake their internships at companies employing engineers in fields such as Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering.

Students wishing to complete both internships at the same company are advised to carry them out in different departments or units. Please click here for detailed internship information.

Does the department have partner companies for internships?

Students are responsible for finding their own internship placements. However, faculty members provide guidance and support to students who experience difficulty securing an internship.

How many credits are required for graduation?

Students must successfully complete 138 credits to graduate. Please refer to the curriculum for the most up-to-date and detailed information.

Is attendance compulsory?

Yes. Students are required to attend all educational activities, including lectures, laboratory sessions, practical courses, projects, seminars, workshops, internships, and graduation projects.

The University's attendance policy requires students to attend at least 70% of theoretical classes and 80% of practical and laboratory sessions. Detailed information is available in the IGU Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.

I obtained a medical report during the examination period. Am I eligible for a make-up examination?

Students who are unable to attend midterm examinations due to health-related reasons may be granted the right to take a make-up examination upon approval by the relevant Faculty Board, provided that their medical report is issued by a fully equipped public hospital, a university hospital, or a family health center located in the province where the University's academic units operate. Please refer to the IGU Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations for detailed and up-to-date information.

Does the University offer Summer School?

Yes. Istanbul Gelisim University offers a Summer School, which is conducted according to the dates specified in the Academic Calendar. Detailed information is available in the Summer School Directive.

Can I pursue a Double Major while studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering?

Yes. Istanbul Gelisim University offers the Double Major Program free of charge.

Students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.90 out of 4.00 who rank within the top 20% of their program are eligible to apply. Students who successfully complete both programs are awarded two undergraduate diplomas. Please refer to the IGU Double Major Directive for further details.

Can I participate in the Erasmus+ Program?

Yes. Students enrolled at Istanbul Gelisim University may participate in the Erasmus+ Program and receive a monthly grant based on the destination country's funding rates.
