Internship

WHAT IS A COMPULSORY INTERNSHIP?

A compulsory internship is a period of work outside of school, documented and approved by the department, in order for the student to graduate. The student is responsible for finding an internship.
Our university may provide a certain number of quotas from various institutions. Information about this is announced on the bulletin boards.

Our students must successfully complete the compulsory 30-day Summer Internship I and 30-day Summer Internship II internships in order to graduate. Summer Internship I is held in the summer following the second year, and Summer Internship II is held in the period following the third year.

You can review the Department Internship Commission from the "Department Commissions" page.
The Compulsory Summer Internship Form will be completed online by the student via the OBIS system.

All students completing an internship must complete the application form and, upon completion of the internship, submit the internship logbook to their workplace for approval.

The steps to be followed for internships are as follows:
Finding a Suitable Internship Position (At least one Electrical and Electronics Engineer is required at the internship position.)
The "Compulsory Internship Form," available through our university's website (https://oidb.gelisim.edu.tr/Sayfa/staj), must be completed using a computer and signed in three copies by the company where the internship will be held (by an authorized administrator with the company stamp).
The Compulsory Internship Form must be submitted no later than 15 (fifteen) business days before the internship start date.
First, it must be signed by the Department Head of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, then by the Dean's Office, and finally by the Student Affairs Office. (A wet signature is mandatory.) (If the internship company/institution requests that the university sign it first, it can be signed by the Department Head and Dean first, and then by the company/institution. In all cases, it must be signed by the Student Affairs Office last.)
One copy of the form signed by the Student Affairs Office must be hand-delivered to the Department Head. One copy of the form must also be delivered to the institution where the internship will be held.
Our university provides insurance for the student during the internship.
The internship log file can be obtained from the Student Affairs Office website and must be legibly completed by hand or on a computer and approved.
The internship log must be hand-delivered to the Department Head within one month of the end date. (If the internship ends more than one month before the start of the academic year, it can also be delivered within the first week of classes.)
Students who do not have their forms approved on time will not be accepted for internship.

Important Points to Consider When Filling Out the Internship Logbook:
The language used when filling out the logbook must be formal (passive). (Project X was discussed, Method Y was found suitable as a solution, etc.)
Supporting elements related to the topic (screenshots, photographs, drawings, and equations) must be included.
The text should not be too short or contain unnecessary, copy-pasted statements.
It should not be written like a diary or novel. (We had tea, coffee, held a meeting, etc.)
Technical details must be included.
Internship forms must be completed daily. Each page must be dated. For daily tasks exceeding one page, additional pages must be added under headings such as "Day 5 (Continued)" or "Day 7 (Continued)."
The internship logbook must be signed by an Electrical and Electronics Engineer, an Electrical Engineer, and an Electronics and Communications Engineer. Other engineering disciplines will not be accepted.

NOTE: a) Mandatory Internship Forms must have the wet signature of the Department Head and Dean. Photocopies cannot be sent.
b) When determining the internship date range, all official holidays, including religious holidays, must not be included in the internship period. (For example, July 15th.) Otherwise, even if the signatures are completed, the internship form will not be accepted and a new process will be required.
c) Internship forms must be approved by authorized individuals, and signatures must include a stamp, if applicable, and their title, first name, and last name.
