A Talk Titled “The Top-Down Method in Reinforced Concrete Construction and Its Practical Applications” Was Held as Part of Tech Talks - 6

At the “Tech Talks - 6” event organized by the Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Istanbul Gelişim University, the Top-Down method used in the construction of buildings with basements and its practical applications were discussed with the participation of Dr. Ogan SEVİM, Chairman of the Board of Directors at ZETAŞ. At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Ogan SEVİM was presented with a plaque and a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his contributions.

The talk titled “The Top-Down Method in Basement Construction and Its Practical Applications,” organized by the Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Istanbul Gelişim University as part of the Tech Talks - 6 event, was held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in Classroom 336 of Building J.

Dr. Ogan SEVİM, Chairman of the Board of Directors at ZETAŞ, participated in the event as a speaker. During the talk, the fundamental principles, application processes, and engineering advantages of the Top-Down construction technique—used in the construction of basement-level buildings, particularly in densely urbanized areas—were discussed.

Dr. Ogan SEVİM shared with the students the aspects that distinguish the Top-Down technique from traditional construction methods, the technical stages requiring attention in field applications, and the scope of the method’s application in various projects. Through evaluations based on real-world project examples, participants had the opportunity to gain a closer understanding of the application processes and field experiences encountered in the construction of buildings with basements.

At the conclusion of the event, a plaque and a certificate of appreciation were presented to Dr. Ogan SEVİM in recognition of his valuable contributions and knowledge sharing. The event, which facilitated students’ acquisition of application-focused knowledge by bringing them together with industry professionals, provided a productive environment for professional awareness.
