Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) has achieved yet another significant milestone with the projects it has developed in the fields of technology, R&D, and innovation. At ISIF 2026—the 11th International Invention Fair—held as part of TEKNOFEST GÜNEYDOĞU 2026, organized under the framework of Turkey’s National Technology Initiative, three innovative inventions from İGÜ won 1 gold and 2 bronze medals. The award ceremony for the fair, held at the Şanlıurfa GAP Airport from September 30 to October 4, 2026, was organized with the participation of Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey. The medals won by İGÜ at the international exhibition were presented by Prof. M. Zeki Durak, President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT).
Gold Medal for IGU Invention in Artificial Intelligence Security

IGU’s invention titled “Multimodal Artificial Intelligence Security Layer” was awarded a gold medal at ISIF 2026.
The invention was developed by Yahya Kemal Kıran, Director of the IGU Technology Transfer Office; M. Sencer Kaçar, TTO Engineer; and IGU students Yusuf Enes Gültekin and Fatma Kurt. Focusing on security in multimodal artificial intelligence systems, the study distinguished itself with its innovative approach to the reliable use of artificial intelligence technologies.

Bronze Medal for Image-Processing-Based Measurement System

IGU’s invention, titled “Image-Processing-Based Multiple Manometer Reading System,” won a bronze medal at the exhibition. The inventors were Prof. Adil Yükselen, Yahya Kemal Kıran (Director of the İGÜ Technology Transfer Office), Res. Asst. H. Furkan Çelik (Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture), and Eren Dokumacı (Assistant Specialist at the TTO).
Developed to quickly, simultaneously, and digitally obtain measurement values from a large number of analog manometers, the system uses a camera to image a 32-channel manometer panel and individually detects the liquid level in each channel. While perspective correction, brightness balancing, and level determination are applied to the images, machine learning is used to filter out erroneous or unreliable measurements. By converting the obtained data into pressure values and displaying and recording them digitally, the system aims to enable faster, more consistent, and more reliable data tracking in laboratory tests and industrial applications.

An Innovative Approach to Traffic Safety: Bronze Medal for the Smart Brake Light System

Another invention by IGU that won a bronze medal at the exhibition was the “Dynamic Color-Changing Smart Brake Light System,” developed by Res. Asst. Serhat Çiftçi.
Developed to convey the intensity of braking to other drivers on the road in a clearer and more understandable way, the system measures the force applied to the brake pedal in real time via a sensor. The data is classified into low, medium, and high braking levels and reflected on the brake light at the rear of the vehicle through a gradual color change. The system also automatically adjusts the brake light’s brightness based on ambient light while filtering out false signals that may result from vibrations or road conditions.
The goal is to enable the driver behind to quickly perceive not only that the vehicle is braking but also the intensity of the braking. The technology aims to enable earlier detection of sudden braking situations, more accurate adjustment of following distance, and improved traffic safety.

IGU Brings Its Innovative Technologies to the International Stage

Having won 1 gold and 2 bronze medals at TEKNOFEST GÜNEYDOĞU 2026 with innovations developed across various fields—ranging from artificial intelligence security to image processing technologies, and from digital measurement systems to traffic safety—Istanbul Gelişim University continues to showcase its work, which transforms scientific knowledge and technological production into practical applications, on international platforms.
The innovations developed with the contributions of faculty and researchers through the Istanbul Gelişim University Technology Transfer Office represent concrete outcomes of the university’s R&D, innovation, patent, and technology development-focused approach, while also strengthening the university’s efforts to develop value-added, innovative technologies.
