Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), which continues its activities with the vision of “Research University”, farewelled its 15th term graduates to the future with ceremonies held at Yahya Kemal Beyatlı Conference Hall on July 24-25, 2024. Graduating from undergraduate, graduate and associate degree programs, 9,903 students shared their excitement and happiness with their families.

“We want our students and graduates to be people of the world”

The 15th term graduation ceremony started with the opening speeches of Istanbul Gelisim University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdülkadir Gayretli and Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin. Abdulkadir Gayretli, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Gelisim University, who gave the graduating students the good news that their tuition fees will be covered if they are accepted for master's and doctorate programs from universities ranked in the top 20 in the World University Rankings, said, “We want our students and graduates to be within universal values and to be people of the world. In this age of rapid spread of information and increased cultural interaction, language skills are vital not only for academic and professional development, but also for your personal development. With your graduation, you will be able to have a voice on international platforms, interact with different cultures and find innovative solutions to global problems due to your language skills. We are confident that you will use these skills effectively and make valuable contributions to society. We are proud of you. Our future is in your hands.”

Stating that IGU, which stands out with its internationalization policy and global projects, is the 1st university in Türkiye with the highest number of international accreditations and 45 graduation certificates with the TQF logo approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Istanbul Gelisim University Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin said, “We are proud to graduate 4463 undergraduate and 5440 associate degree students for two days at IGU. Each of you is very valuable for our university and our country. Like all our IGU graduates, you will work in the service of our country and humanity. Our university aims to create a global impact by being at the intersection of science and technology. As you receive your graduation certificates today, I think it is important to remember that you are not only individuals equipped with knowledge, but also leaders who understand how this knowledge can be used to make the world a better place. Science and technology involves not only theoretical knowledge, but also how to make this knowledge useful for humanity. It will be a source of great pride for us to see you as ambassadors of our university after your graduation. Wherever you are, take advantage of the opportunities offered by science and technology without losing your love for research and learning. I firmly believe that you will reflect the theoretical and practical education you receive to practice in the most efficient way and that you will represent Istanbul Gelisim University successfully in the national and international arena. Our country and the world need you so much.” He used his expressions.
