 Significant Achievement of Our Faculty Members at an International Conference

Academics from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture successfully represented our faculty at an international conference with studies conducted across different departments. Covering a wide range of topics from cybersecurity to artificial intelligence, from decision-making methods to autonomous systems, the presented papers received considerable attention in the scientific community. While numerous academics from our faculty delivered presentations at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan GÖNEN, a faculty member of the Department of Computer Engineering, participated as an invited Keynote Speaker.

  • Machine Learning in RPL-based IoT Networks and Cyber Attack Detection with Deep Learning Approaches

In this study, a comprehensive model was developed for the detection of cyberattacks in IoT networks using machine learning and deep learning methods. The paper was prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan GÖNEN from the Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Deniz DAHMAN from the Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Gökçe KARACAYILMAZ from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Research Assistants Ahmet Nail TAŞTAN, Mehmet Ali BARIŞKAN, and Hasan YILDIRIM from the Department of Computer Engineering, together with Uğur KAYA.

  • Detection of Cyber Attacks with Machine Learning Algorithms

In this study, performance comparisons were conducted to detect cyberattacks using machine learning algorithms. The research was presented by Prof. Dr. Cemalettin KUBAT from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan GÖNEN from the Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Deniz DAHMAN from the Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Gökçe KARACAYILMAZ from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Research Assistant Mehmet Ali BARIŞKAN from the Department of Computer Engineering, along with Tuğşem ÜRE and Ercan Nurcan YILMAZ.
 

  • Real-Time Detection and Classification of Cyberattacks in MQTT-Based IoT Networks Using Machine Learning and Neural Networks

This study focused on the real-time classification of cyberattacks occurring over the MQTT protocol in IoT networks. The contribution was prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan GÖNEN from the Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Deniz DAHMAN from the Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Gökçe KARACAYILMAZ from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Research Assistants Mehmet Ali BARIŞKAN and Hasan Hüseyin SAYAN from the Department of Computer Engineering, together with Furkan ÜSTÜNSOY, Sadık YILDIZ, and Ercan Nurcan YILMAZ.

  • Real-Time Detection of GPS Dimming and Fraud Attacks in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles with Artificial Intelligence

This paper addressed the detection of GPS dimming and spoofing attacks in unmanned aerial vehicles using AI-based methods. The study was carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan GÖNEN from the Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Deniz DAHMAN from the Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Gökçe KARACAYILMAZ from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Lecturer Ahmet Faruk GÖRMÜŞ from the Vocational School, together with Muhammed Erdem HATAYOĞLU and Eltaj PİRVERDİYEV.

  • AI-Enabled Smart Glasses with Cybersecurity Features for Visually Impaired Individuals

This contribution introduced the development of an AI-enabled smart glasses prototype with cybersecurity features for visually impaired individuals. The paper was prepared by Assoc.   • Development of an Autonomous Vehicle System with Remote Control and Cybersecurity Features

This paper presented the design of an autonomous vehicle system with remote control and enhanced cybersecurity features. It was prepared by Assoc.   • Exploring the Open-Source Concept to Enhance the Learning and Exploration Curve of AI Architecture

This study explored the contributions of the open-source approach to the learning process of AI architectures. The paper was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan GÖNEN from the Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Deniz DAHMAN from the Department of Software Engineering, Research Assistant Mehmet Ali BARIŞKAN from the Department of Computer Engineering, and Lecturer Ali ÇETİNKAYA from the Vocational School.

  • Optimizing Binary Classification Algorithms Through Hyperparameter Tuning: A Case Study on Thyroid Cancer Prediction

This paper applied hyperparameter optimization to binary classification algorithms for thyroid cancer prediction. The study was prepared by Prof. Dr. Cemalettin KUBAT from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Mehmet ASAN.

  • Barriers to Institutional AI Integration: A Systematic Approach Using FUCOM and Segmentation Analysis

This research systematically evaluated barriers to institutional AI integration. The paper was presented by Dr. Sinem Büyüksaatçi KİRİŞ and Dr. Binnur AKIF from the Department of Industrial Engineering.

  • Use of Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making Methods in Industrial Investment Decisions: Application of Machine Selection in a Steel Wire Manufacturing Enterprise

This paper investigated the applicability of fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making methods in industrial investment decisions, with a focus on machine selection in a steel wire manufacturing enterprise. The study was carried out by Prof. Dr. Tarık ÇAKAR from the Department of Industrial Engineering.
