I have been admitted to your department. What should I do for registration?
Congratulations on your success. Registration procedures are announced on the IGU main page (https://www.gelisim.edu.tr/en) or on the website of the Directorate of Student Affairs (https://oidb.gelisim.edu.tr/en).

The medium of instruction of my program is Turkish. Can I attend the English preparatory school voluntarily?
Yes. The preparatory program is optional and requires an additional fee. In this case, the duration of your education will be extended by one year.

Where can I get my student ID card?
Newly registered engineering students can collect their student ID cards from the Secretariat (Tower, 19th floor).

What should I do for course registration?
Course registrations must be completed within the dates specified in the academic calendar through the Student Information System.

Can you provide general information about computer engineering?
Computer engineering is a discipline that covers the design, development, maintenance, and testing of computer systems, hardware, and software. It integrates hardware and software components, and computer engineers typically work on projects in areas such as:

1. Hardware design

2. Embedded systems

3. Network configurations

4. Software applications
   The discipline promotes a systematic, disciplined, and measurable approach to the design and implementation of computer systems, optimizing interaction between hardware and software for efficient system performance.

Where is my department located?
The IGU Computer Engineering Undergraduate Program carries out its educational activities in Gelişim Tower (Block J). Faculty members’ offices are located on the 18th floor, and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Dean’s Office is on the 19th floor.

Can I be exempted from the courses I have taken at another university?
Students admitted through central placement may apply for course exemption within the dates announced in the academic calendar during their first semester. The exemption request is evaluated by the committee in accordance with the IGU Exemption-Adjustment and Transfer Procedures Directive.

Is there a mandatory internship requirement in my department?
Yes. The internship duration is determined as 60 working days by the university senate. Click here for detailed information.

Does the department have partner institutions for internships?
Students are expected to find their own internship placements. However, academic staff members provide support to students who experience difficulties in finding suitable internship opportunities.

How many credits are required for graduation?
The total number of credits required for graduation is 138. You can review the curriculum for more detailed and updated information.

Is class attendance compulsory?
Yes. Students are required to attend all courses, practices, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, internships, and capstone studies for the semester. A minimum attendance of 70% for theoretical courses and 80% for laboratory and applied courses is mandatory. I received a medical report during the exam period. Can I take a make-up exam?
Students who cannot attend midterm exams due to health issues may be granted a make-up exam upon submission of a valid medical report issued by a fully equipped state hospital, university hospital, or family health center, and approval of the relevant administrative board. Is there a summer school program?
Yes. IGU offers summer school education, which is held within the dates announced in the academic calendar. For further information, please refer to the Summer Education Directive.

Can I pursue a Double Major (DMP) while studying Computer Engineering at IGU?
Yes. IGU offers the Double Major Program free of charge. Students with a GPA of at least 2.90 out of 4.00 and ranked within the top 20% of their program are eligible to apply. Can I benefit from the Erasmus+ program while studying Computer Engineering at IGU?
Yes. IGU students can participate in the Erasmus+ program and receive monthly grants depending on the host country’s currency. Since the establishment of the program, 15 students from the IGU Computer Engineering Department have participated in Erasmus+. Click here for further information.
