  1. I’ve been accepted to your department. What do I need to do to register?
    Congratulations, and we wish you continued success! Registration instructions are available on the IGU homepage or the Student Affairs Department’s website .

  2. The language of instruction in my program is Turkish. Can I take a preparatory course if I want?
    The preparatory course is optional and requires an additional fee. If you choose this, your education period will be extended by one year.

  3. Where can I get my student ID card?
    New engineering students can obtain their student ID cards from the Secretariat (Kule-19th floor).

  4. What do I need to do for course registration?
    You can register for courses by logging into the Student Information System within the dates specified in the academic calendar.

  8. Can you provide general information about Computer Engineering?
    Computer Engineering involves the design, development, maintenance, and testing of computer systems and hardware, along with software. This field integrates hardware and software components and typically focuses on:

    • Hardware design,
    • Embedded systems,
    • Network configurations,
    • Software applications. The discipline encourages a systematic, disciplined, and measurable approach to the design and application of computer systems, optimizing the interaction between software and hardware for more efficient and effective systems.
  9. Which campus is my department located at?
    The Computer Engineering Undergraduate Program is located at Gelişim Tower (J Block). Faculty offices are on the 18th floor, and the Engineering and Architecture Faculty Dean's office is on the 19th floor.

  10. Can I be exempt from courses I’ve taken at other universities?
    Students who enroll in the program through central placement may apply for course exemptions for courses they have successfully/conditionally passed at previous institutions. The exemption request will be evaluated by the relevant committee, as per the IGU Exemption and Transfer Regulations.

  11. Does my department have a mandatory internship requirement?
    Yes, the mandatory internship duration is 60 workdays, as determined by the university senate. For more information, please click here.

  12. Are there partner institutions for internships in my department?
    Students are responsible for finding their own internship placements. However, faculty members are available to assist students who face difficulties in securing an internship.

  13. How many credits do I need to graduate?
    A total of 138 credits are required for graduation. You can get more detailed and up-to-date information by reviewing the curriculum.

  14. Is attendance required for courses?
    Every student is required to participate in their classes, including theory, practice, labs, projects, seminars, workshops, internships, and thesis work. There is a minimum attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical courses and 80% for practical/laboratory courses.   15. If I take a medical report during the exam period, can I attend a makeup exam?
    Students who miss midterm exams due to health reasons are eligible for a makeup exam if they provide a medical report from a state hospital or an authorized health institution. Further details can be found in the IGU Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.

  16. Do you have a summer school?
    Yes, the university offers summer term courses. Information about the summer term is published in the academic calendar.

  17. Can I do a Double Major (ÇAP) while studying in Computer Engineering?
    Yes, Istanbul Gelişim University offers a free Double Major program. Students with a GPA of at least 2.90 (out of 4.00) and ranked in the top 20% of their program are eligible to apply for a second degree. Those who successfully complete the double major program will receive two diplomas. For more information, please refer to the Double Major Regulations.

  18. Can I participate in the Erasmus+ program while studying Computer Engineering?
    Yes, students at IGU can participate in the Erasmus+ program. A monthly grant is provided based on the exchange rate of the country they are visiting. For more information on Erasmus+, please click here.
