Industrial Engineering

Asst. Prof. Mert Yildirim attended the 5th International Characterization Symposium (ISC’25)

Asst Prof. Mert Yıldırım who worked IGU Department of Industrial Engineering, presented his paper on additive manufacturing technologies and materials at ISC'25. The innovative advantages offered by additive manufacturing in fields such as defense, aerospace, medicine, and automotive were highlighted.

Asst. Prof. Mert Yildirim, a faculty member in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Istanbul Gelisim University, attended ISC’25 and presented his paper, entitled “Additive Manufacturing Technologies and Materials: A State-of-the-Art Review.”

Additive manufacturing, which has reached a market size of approximately 20 billion dollars and is regarded as the manufacturing technology of the future, enables revolutionary changes in production processes and is one of the most significant disruptive manufacturing methods of our time. Thanks to its advantages, such as the ability to produce complex geometries, reduce multi-part assemblies to a single or minimal number of parts, and rapidly develop prototypes and components, additive manufacturing is increasingly used across a wide range of industries, from defense to aerospace and from medicine to automotive, thereby gaining growing importance.
