Engineering and Architecture Faculty Alumni Meet Students in an Inspiring Career Talk
The Alumni Talk organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Istanbul Gelisim University brought students and graduates together in an inspiring event that shed light on career development and professional growth. During the program, alumni from various sectors shared their experiences and insights, providing students with valuable guidance on transitioning into professional life, career planning, and personal and professional development.
Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture brought together students and alumni through the “Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Alumni Talk,” creating a meaningful platform for sharing knowledge, experience, and inspiration. Held on June 3, 2026, at the J-Block 347 Auditorium, the event was successfully completed with strong student participation and engagement.
Organized under the theme “Inspiration from Alumni, Experience Shaping the Future,” the event aimed to guide students in their career journeys, raise awareness about professional life after graduation, and strengthen alumni-student connections. Alumni from various sectors shared their experiences in a friendly and interactive atmosphere, providing students with valuable insights for both their academic and professional development.
The speakers included faculty alumni Sude Yalınız, Halid Duman, Ayşe Selin Türkmen, Mustafa Sencer Kaçar, and Barış Harman. During the event, they discussed how the knowledge and skills they gained during their university years contributed to their professional careers, the opportunities and challenges they encountered after graduation, the steps they took in their career development processes, and the personal competencies that contributed to their success.
Throughout the talk, the alumni shared not only their technical knowledge and industry expertise but also valuable advice on personal development, career planning, effective communication, disciplined work habits, teamwork, and adapting to changing industry dynamics. Their real-life experiences enabled students to gain a more concrete perspective on career development and professional life.
Topics such as the transition from university to professional life, the impact of internship experiences on career development, the importance of professional networking, key considerations during job interviews, and meeting industry expectations attracted significant interest from students. The question-and-answer session further enhanced interaction between students and alumni, creating a dynamic and engaging environment.
Faculty representatives emphasized the importance of providing students with opportunities to directly learn from alumni and industry professionals, highlighting the value of such experiences for professional development. They also stated that similar events aimed at strengthening alumni-student relationships and increasing career awareness would continue in the future.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all participants and a group photograph commemorating the occasion, marking the end of a highly interactive and successful program.
