Asst. Prof. Mert YILDIRIM, an esteemed faculty member of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Istanbul Gelisim University (İGÜ), has developed an innovative invention titled "Production Method of High-Performance Smart Composite Material Containing Nanocellulose and Nickel-Titanium Alloy." This invention has been officially registered as an "examined patent" by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) for a duration of 20 years.
With patent number 2023/004775, this groundbreaking invention stands out with its microcapsules that prevent microcrack propagation and its self-healing mechanism incorporating a shape memory alloy in the smart composite material production method.
