I've been accepted into your department. What do I need to do to enroll?
Information regarding registration is posted on the IGU Homepage or on the Directorate of Student Affairs website.
The language of education in the program I was accepted into is Turkish. Can I take a preparatory program if I want to?
Optional preparatory training is subject to a fee. In this case, your training period will be extended by one year.
Where can I get my student ID?
Engineering students who have recently enrolled can pick up their student ID cards from the Secretariat (Tower, 19th Floor, Office 19).
What do I need to do to register for a class?
You can register for courses by logging into the Student Information System (OBIS) during the dates specified in the academic calendar.

Which campus is my department located on?
The IGÜ Mechatronics Engineering Undergraduate Program conducts its educational activities in the Gelişim Tower (J-Block). The offices of the department’s faculty members are located on the 18th and 19th floors of the tower, while the office of the department’s research assistants and the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture are located on the 19th floor of the tower.
Is my department accredited?
The IGÜ Mechatronics Engineering Undergraduate Program is accredited by the U.S.-based ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC).
Can I be exempt from courses I’ve already taken at other universities?
Students who enroll at the university through the centralized placement system may apply for exemption from courses they have previously taken and passed or conditionally passed at another higher education institution during the first semester in which they register for courses, within the dates announced in the academic calendar. Course exemption requests will be evaluated by the committee in accordance with the IGU Guidelines on Exemption, Credit Transfer, and Horizontal Transfer Procedures.
Is there a compulsory internship program in my department?
Our students are required to complete a total of 60 workdays of compulsory summer internships in order to graduate. Click here for detailed information about the internships.
Is there an attendance requirement?
Every student is required to participate in courses, applications, labs, projects, seminars, workshops, internships, final projects, and similar activities for the semester they are enrolled in. At our university, there is an attendance requirement of at least 70% for theoretical courses and at least 80% for applications and labs. Do you have a summer school?
Our university offers summer schools, which are held during the dates previously announced in the academic calendar. You can find detailed information about the summer school in the Summer School Guidelines.
Can I apply for a Double Major (ÇAP) while studying Mechatronics Engineering at IGU?
Yes. Istanbul Gelişim University offers its double major program to students free of charge. Students who have a cumulative GPA of 2.90 out of 4.00 in their primary major program and rank in the top 20% of their undergraduate or associate’s degree program are eligible to apply for a second major degree program free of charge. Students who successfully complete the double major program and earn two undergraduate degrees are awarded two undergraduate diplomas. Can I participate in the Erasmus+ program while studying Mechatronics Engineering at IGU?
Yes. Students at Istanbul Gelişim University can participate in the Erasmus+ program. They receive a fixed monthly grant based on the exchange rate of the currency of the country they will be visiting. Click here for detailed information about Erasmus.
