International Exchange and Cooperation Office of Istanbul Gelisim University recently held a significant collaboration meeting as part of the "Korean Language Dissemination Education" project, supported by the South Korean government. The meeting, held on December 3, 2024, was attended by Prof. Kim Ji-Hyung, Project Lead from Kyung Hee Cyber University in South Korea, along with project researchers Prof. Seo Jinsuk, Prof. Cho Eunhui, and Kui-Im Jung.
The meeting also included IGU’s Vice Rector for Research and Development, Prof. Dr. Necmettin Maraşlı, IECO Coordinator Alisa Usubova, IECO Specialist Pınar Aleyna Doğan, and IECO Assistant Specialist Mehmet Emir Çetinberk. The project details were presented by Prof. Kim Ji-Hyung and Prof. Seo Jinsuk.
The discussions highlighted that this government-supported language dissemination program would be offered free of charge at partner universities. Through the agreement that will be signed between IGU and Kyung Hee Cyber University, IGU students will have the opportunity to take Korean as an elective course.
This project promises numerous academic and personal benefits for students. Learning Korean will not only equip students with a new language skill but also offer them the chance to explore South Korea’s rich culture and develop an international perspective. Known for its millennia-old history, South Korea stands out as a country where traditional culture and modern life coexist harmoniously. With the global popularity of K-Pop, K-Dramas, and Korean cuisine, South Korea has become a cultural powerhouse. Additionally, as a leader in technology and innovation, South Korea hosts the headquarters of globally renowned companies. Therefore, proficiency in Korean will provide students with significant advantages in pursuing international career opportunities, helping them become more competitive in the global job market.
This collaboration aligns with IGU’s vision for internationalization, aiming to contribute to students’ personal and professional development, preparing them as well-equipped individuals for the global business world.
