The Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Istanbul Gelişim University, organized an orientation program for first-year students joining the department in the 2026–2027 academic year. The program, held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 15:00 in Classroom J-373, was attended by the department’s entire academic staff. During the program, information was provided about the educational processes and available resources to help students get to know the department and adjust to university life.

The program began with an opening speech by Department Chair Prof. Hamdi Alper ÖZYİĞİT and continued with introductions by the faculty members. In addition to Prof. Hamdi Alper ÖZYİĞİT, the program was attended by Assoc. Prof. Kenan ŞENTÜRK, Assoc. Prof. Haydar İzzettin KEPEKÇİ, Assoc. Prof. Engin ERBAYRAK, Asst. Prof. Cansu NOBERİ, Res. Asst. Tunay ACIMAN, and Res. Asst. Ufuk ATEŞOĞLU. Students had the opportunity to get to know the department’s faculty members, with whom they will be studying throughout their academic careers.

During the orientation presentation held following the introduction of the academic staff, the department’s vision, mission, and educational goals were discussed. Information was provided on the interdisciplinary nature of mechatronics engineering—which combines mechanical, electrical-electronic, and computer engineering—and the knowledge and skills students will acquire during their studies were explained. In addition, information was shared regarding the program’s accreditation, curriculum, compulsory and elective courses, and prerequisite courses.

The presentation covered topics that students will need to know about in their academic lives, such as course registration, course workload, taking courses from higher semesters, and exam procedures. The department’s laboratory facilities were introduced, and information was provided about the learning environments where applied education is conducted. Students were also introduced to the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ study and internship mobility programs, as well as the Double Major Program.

The program provided information about the Mechatronics Engineering Club and the technical tours, seminars, and conferences organized by the club. The program also covered the various fields in which mechatronics engineers work, particularly in the automotive, robotics, and industrial automation sectors. Students were reminded to regularly check the department’s website to access announcements related to the department and the information they will need.
The orientation program concluded with department faculty members answering students’ questions. The program, which allowed new students to meet the academic staff and learn about their educational journey, served as a guiding event as they began their university life.
