Istanbul Gelisim University’s Future Engineers and Architects Project Festival, organized under the coordination of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, was successfully completed on April 15, 2026. The event, which enabled high school students to experience the processes of project development, presentation, and academic evaluation, became an important occasion that strengthened the interaction between higher education and secondary education.
Within the scope of the festival, projects prepared in the fields of Computer and Software Engineering, Electrical-Electronics and Mechatronics, Civil Engineering-Architecture, and Industrial Engineering were evaluated by jury members, while the innovative ideas and solution-oriented approaches of the high school students received great appreciation. The high school students competing in the field of Industrial Engineering presented projects developed on various topics such as production, efficiency, process improvement, sustainability, and system design, demonstrating their knowledge and skills.
As the Department of Industrial Engineering, we were pleased to take part in this meaningful organization, which encourages high school students to develop an early interest in engineering disciplines. Throughout the festival, participants had the opportunity not only to present their projects in an academic environment but also to become closely acquainted with the educational and research infrastructure of our university. In addition to contributing to the development of high school students’ scientific thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills, the event also provided an important platform for strengthening cooperation between the university and high schools.
Following the competition, a workshop was also organized for the high school students. Through this activity, participants had the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about the discipline of Industrial Engineering and to become more familiar with the department’s areas of study. In addition, the book titled “Introduction to Industrial Engineering”, prepared with contributions from our department faculty members, was presented as a gift to the high school students by our Head of Department, Assit. Prof. Didem Yılmaz. With this meaningful gift, it was aimed to increase students’ awareness of the field of Industrial Engineering and to support them in becoming more closely acquainted with the profession.
